Information Literacy : Study of First-Year Incoming Undergraduates in Quebec
Montréal, September 23, 2003 - The Sub-committee of libraries of the Conference of Rectors and Principals of Quebec Universities (CREPUQ) is pleased to announce the publication of the results of a survey conducted in September 2002 amongst a wide sampling of undergraduate students entering a university program in Quebec. Information Literacy : Study of First Year Incoming Undergraduates in Quebec offers libraries a reliable evaluation of the information research skills and competencies of undergraduates.
The data present an accurate, current profile of students’ research knowledge and abilities. The survey will help university libraries to adjust the services they offer to promote and develop the information skills of their patrons, thereby contributing to the integration of an information culture in university education.
The study was conducted by Dr. Diane Mittermeyer, Associate Professor of the Graduate School of Library and Information Studies (GSLIS) of McGill University with the collaboration of the CREPUQ Working Group on Library Instruction, chaired by Ms. Diane Quirion, Head, Bibliothèque des sciences humaines de l’Université de Sherbrooke.
The French and the English electronic versions of the Study are available, free of costs, at the following address :
